Frequently Asked Questions

Detailed specs, safety parameters, single-phase power details, and licensing details explained.

1. General & Cost Guidelines

What is a Home Elevator?

A home elevator is a specialized residential mobility system designed to transport 2 to 5 passengers vertically between floors in private villas, duplex houses, and bungalows. Unlike heavy commercial passenger elevators, home elevators are designed with compact footprints, quiet drive units, and customized interiors that complement residential aesthetics, requiring minimal structural changes.

How much does a Home Lift cost?

The cost of a home elevator in South India varies depending on customization options, dimensions, the number of stops, travel height, and structural layout configurations (such as masonry concrete shaft or self-supporting steel structures). Contact our engineering advisors for a free site survey and a detailed custom price estimate.

Why choose Crown Home Elevator?

Crown Home Elevator is one of the most trusted premium residential lift manufacturers in South India. We offer advanced pitless designs, standard single-phase power compatibility, solar battery integrations, and cloud-connected IoT safety diagnostics. Our proprietary manufacturing plant guarantees top-tier materials and quality control, backed by local after-sales maintenance and emergency response standby.

How much maintenance is required for a residential lift?

Our advanced hydraulic home elevators require very low maintenance because they have fewer moving parts than traditional gear-driven traction elevators. We recommend routine inspections once every two to three months to check fluid pressures, battery backups, and door alignment sensors. Crown provides dedicated Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) to ensure trouble-free operations.

2. Technical & Safety Specifications

Can home elevators work without a pit?

Yes. All Crown home elevator models are compatible with pitless floor setups. Instead of excavating a deep concrete pit under the floor, we install a sleek, low-profile entry ramp (starting at just 50mm–100mm height) directly at the ground level, ensuring easy wheel-chair access without cutting your foundation.

Is headroom required at the top floor?

No. Our home lifts are engineered to fit standard residential ceiling heights. We utilize space-saving hydraulic cylinder configurations that operate fully within typical 2700mm to 2800mm ceiling heights, avoiding any top-floor ceiling protrusions or machine-room requirements.

Can it run on single phase domestic electricity?

Yes. Our home lifts are engineered to run on standard domestic 230V single-phase power connections. They draw minimal current, comparable to running a domestic air conditioner, making them highly cost-effective and compatible with regular household utility lines.

Can elevators be installed in existing homes?

Absolutely. Our Stairwell Model / In-Between Staircase Lift is engineered specifically for retrofitting inside existing wrap-around staircase voids. We assemble a self-supporting steel framework inside the void, meaning you do not need to construct a concrete lift shaft, keeping civil dust and renovations close to zero.

How safe are Crown Home Elevators?

Safety is our primary engineering focus. All lifts are equipped with Automatic Rescue Devices (ARD) that lower the cabin to the ground floor and open the doors during power failure, emergency mechanical descent bypass valves, load sensors, speed limiters, door safety light curtains, emergency stop buttons, and live cloud IoT diagnostic telemetry.

How much space is required to install a home lift?

Our lifts are highly space-efficient. We can configure compact cabins in staircase voids as small as 900 x 900 mm. For comfortable wheelchair passenger transit, we recommend an layout footprint of approximately 1200 x 1200 mm to 1400 x 1400 mm.
